ARTICLE I- NAME
The name of the organization shall be the Ohio Baptist Conference of the Deaf(OBCD).
ARTICLE II- AFFILIATION (Join with)
The Ohio Baptist Conference of the Deaf shall cooperate fully with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptist Conference of the Deaf, the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio, and the local associations. The Ohio Baptist Conference of the Deaf shall not align nor affiliate (follow) itself with any group whose faith, beliefs, or practice are contrary (opposite) to those of the SBC groups named above.
ARTICLE III- PURPOSE
Section 1 -The purpose of the Ohio Baptist Conference of the Deaf shall be:
A. To cooperate in sharing the gospel of Christ with ALL people.
B. To encourage a church active ministry among Deaf people.
C. To encourage discuss of ideas, plans, and programs that will strengthen the work among Deaf people in Ohio.
D. To develop spiritual respect for God, our faith, an improved understanding of Baptist doctrine (teach beliefs} Christian fellowship and benevolence (to be helpful) among Deaf people.
ARTICLE IV- MEMBERSHIP
Section 1- The membership shall include:
A. Deaf persons who are members of a Southern Baptist Church affiliated (join) with State Convention of Baptist in Ohio.
B. Baptist ministers and missionaries to the Deaf, pastors of churches ministering to the Deaf, interpreters and other hearing workers with the deaf in such churches.
C. Interested family members of the Deaf or involved hearing persons who are active members of a Southern Baptist Church in Ohio.
Section 2 - The visitors are:
A. Deaf or hearing are welcomed to its fellowship as visitors if they are willing to cooperate in the support of Baptist principles and OBCD's purpose explained in
ARTICLE III. They may have the privilege of discussion (voice), and may not serve as officers or members of committees or have the right to present a motion or vote.
B. Visitors may participate (help) as a teacher, children workers, with music, interpreting and/or take part in the programs at camp.
ARTICLE V-ADMINISTRATIVE
Section 1- Officers (Executive Board):

F. Three (3) Trustees

Section 2 -The Executive Board shall:
A. Consist of all elected officers and officers elect list in Section 1 of this article. The State Conventions of Baptists in Ohio will have a representative for Deaf ministries and shall be an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Executive Board.
ARTICLE VI- COMMITTEES
Section 1 -The president shall appoint all committees as needed. See Article III.
A. Missions Committee
B. Steering Committee
C. Nominating Committee
Section 2 - All committees, unless otherwise provided, shall:
A. Have at least three members but no more than five. A majority of each committee shall be Deaf (No person may serve on more than two (2) committees).
B. An officer may serve on one (1) committee, in addition to the committees their office requires.
C. The president is an ex-officio (non-voting) member of all committees.
ARTICLE VII- MEETINGS
Section 1- The Annual Conference meetings (regular sessions) shall be held yearly at Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly) or another location at a time selected by OBCD in agreement with the State Convention of Baptist the year prior to the meeting.
Section 2- Executive Board meetings may be called by the President or by three members of the Executive Board.
Section 3 - Special meetings may be called by the President or by three members of the Executive Board.
ARTICLE VIII- AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION
The Constitution may be amended (changed) or corrected by a majority vote of the members present at a regular session. They will be provided (given) a copy of the amendment distributed (sent-out) to Southern Baptist Churches of Ohio and/or in the OBCD newsletter for each members to read. Any constitutional amendment or corrections from SBC Deaf churches/ministries must be given to the Executive Board 3 MONTHS BEFORE Ohio Baptist Conference of the Deaf meeting.
ARTICLE IX- RULES OF ORDER
In any question or order as related to parliamentary law, the Ohio Baptist Conference of the Deaf shall follow The Robert Rules of Order except wherein this constitution of By-Laws shall say differently.
